The rain has backed off and Gold Coasters can look forward to some nice weather ahead.
The east coast low that’s been causing a bit of havoc is making its way out, and while the winds will remain gusty, the sun will shine from this afternoon.
Brooke Pagel from the Bureau of Meteorology says we can expect lovely Gold Coast weather ahead.
“Pretty much once this rain eases off and that cloud moves away, we’ll be back to that beautiful winter weather on the coast,” Ms Pagel says.
“So mostly sunny tomorrow and going into next week as well, well into Friday we can expect sunny conditions.”
However, we are being warned those massive wind gusts will hang around and all Gold Coast beaches remain closed today.
Although conditions are easing, a severe weather warning for dangerous surf remains in place.
“We are still expecting that large and powerful surf and it is expected to be hazardous as well,” Ms Pagel says.
“Also a risk of erosion too, especially with these big waves and the combination of the winds and the wet weather that we have had.”
Today, southerly wind gusts of around 25-35km/hr are expected while this morning Coolangatta and the Seaway recorded huge gusts up to 50km’s an hour.
Tomorrow, the winds will ease again to around 15-20 km/hour.
