A Gold Coast home has suffered significant damage after an allegedly drunk driver smashed a vehicle into the front of the house.

Emergency services were called to Corunna Crescent in Ashmore just before 2am on Friday after reports a blue Toyota Yaris had crashed into a house.

The house sustained considerable damage to the lounge room.

The residents were home at the time of the crash, however, no one was physically injured following the incident.

The 25-year-old male driver from Southport, who was the only occupant in the car, has since been given a notice to appear for driving under the influence of liquor.

He will front Southport Magistrates Court on March 21.
