If you’ve wandered past North Burleigh lately and noticed something sleek and shiny taking shape on the skyline, you’re not imagining things. The much-anticipated Mondrian Gold Coast has officially opened, bringing with it a relaxed yet refined beach club and dining precinct that’s set to be your new favourite excuse to hang seaside.

This is the first Mondrian in Australia (yes, the same one with hotels in places like LA, New York, and Ibiza), but don’t let the global reputation fool you — this new Gold Coast addition is all about local flavour, laid-back charm and beachside bliss.

Tucked right on the beachfront at Burleigh Heads, the Mondrian Beach Club is shaping up to be one of the most inviting spots to soak up the GC lifestyle — ocean views, palm trees, sun lounges, and a breezy, open-air feel that makes it hard to leave.

It’s not just for hotel guests or residents either. The beach club is open to locals, making it a welcome new player in the coastal hangout scene. There’s a strong focus on good food, good drinks, and good music (think mellow DJs and chilled beats rather than anything too loud), with an easy flow from day to night.

Whether you’re popping in for a lazy long lunch, sundowners with mates, or a quick swim and snack combo, the whole space feels relaxed, polished and very, very Gold Coast.

Of course, no beach club is complete without a solid menu — and Mondrian delivers on that front. Expect a fresh, seasonal approach that leans into Southeast Asian flavours and Mediterranean-style dishes, perfect for sharing.

Some early favourites include:

  • Lemongrass and chilli prawns

  • Charred flatbreads from a proper wood-fired oven

  • Fresh local seafood platters

  • Salads that are actually worth ordering

  • Plus, a cocktail list featuring a standout yuzu margarita and spritzes made for sunset

The team behind the food have clearly put effort into making this more than just an add-on to the hotel experience — this is somewhere you’d come for the meal alone (and probably stay for the views).
