A driver is on the run after causing chaos on the Gold Coast tram line overnight.
Police were called to Surfers Paradise around 11.15pm following reports a grey Mazda 3 had become stuck on the tracks at the intersection of Ferny Ave and Admiralty Drive.
The driver and occupants of the vehicle had fled the scene on foot before police arrived, with officers launching a manhunt.
Trams had to be suspended for around an hour while crews worked to remove the vehicle and clear the scene.
“The vehicle was not reported stolen and has since been towed,” Queensland Police said.
Investigations are ongoing.
Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
