Two teenage boys have spent the weekend behind bars and will front court today charged over a dramatic stolen car crash on the northern Gold Coast.
The duo is accused of crashing a stolen white Mercedes GLC into a tow truck at a service station on Siganto Drive in Helensvale around 8pm on July 5.
The teens continued to drive off, with police launching a major search to track them down.
The smashed-up vehicle was located nearby a short time later, with two 17-year-old boys inside.
The teens were arrested and have since been charged with a string of offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and enter dwelling and commit.
Police allege the Mercedes was stolen from a Columbus Drive home in Hollywell earlier that morning.
Both boys were refused police bail and are due to appear before Southport Childrens Court today.
