Police are investigating following the discovery of a body at Currumbin Creek.
The body, believed to be that of a female, was found in the water near Whitsunday Drive just before 3pm on Wednesday.
It’s not known at this stage whether or not the death is suspicious, with investigations ongoing.
Nearby residents have revealed the woman was fully clothed with shoes on and was wearing a life vest that appeared not to fit her.
The vest had been tied up at the front with a rope.
Police are working to identify the woman and determine how long she had been in the water for.
The grim find follows a tragic weekend on the Gold Coast, where two bodies were found on different beaches within 24 hours.
A man in his 60s was found at Echo Beach at Tallebudgera Creek around 6.45am on Saturday.
While a woman in her 70s was found on the sand in front of the Palm Beach Surf Lifesaving Club around 5.40am on Sunday.
Police have confirmed both of those deaths are being treated as non-suspicious, with medical episodes believed to be the cause.
