A teenage boy has suffered significant injuries in a hit-and-run in Upper Coomera.

Emergency services were called to Old Coach Road around 5:25pm Sunday after the boy was struck by a Holden Commodore, before the vehicle fled the scene.

Police attended a nearby Upper Coomera address, where they allegedly located the vehicle and took a 65-year-old man into custody.

The boy was transported to the Gold Coast University  Hospital with a significant leg injury.

The Forensic Crash Unit has launched an investigation.

Charges are yet to be laid against the driver.
