UPDATE: Two men have been charged over a violent Gold Coast home invasion that’s left one man fighting for life in hospital.
Police say the pair forced their way into a property on Dugandan Street in Nerang around 3.30am on Thursday.
Once inside, they’re accused of assaulting a 58-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman.
The man sustained life-threatening wounds to his head and lower back, while the woman sustained a laceration to the back of her head.
Police were quick to arrive on scene and arrested the two men, aged 34 and 35.
They’ve since been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company, armed robbery and enter dwelling with intent.
Both men are due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today.
Investigations are continuing.

Once inside, they’re accused of assaulting a 58-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman.
The 58-year-old sustained wounds to his lower back and was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a life-threatening condition.
While the 32-year-old was taken stable after suffering a laceration to the back of her head.
Police arrived a short time later and arrested the two men, believed to be aged in their 30s.
A crime scene has been declared at the property and investigations are underway.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident or who may have relevant vision to come forward.
