Ahmedabad, one of India’s fastest-growing cities, has officially been confirmed as the host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

Organisers have confirmed that 15–17 sports will feature in 2030, including athletics, swimming, table tennis, bowls, weightlifting, artistic gymnastics, netball, and boxing.

A final decision on the remaining sports will begin next month, with the full line up to be announced next year.

Under consideration are popular events including archery, badminton, cycling, hockey, rugby sevens, shooting, wrestling, and T20 cricket, which last appeared in women’s format at the 2022 Birmingham Games.

Host cities can also propose up to two new or traditional sports, giving Ahmedabad room to showcase local culture or emerging athletic talent.

The 2030 Games will mark the 24th edition of the event, following Birmingham 2022 and Glasgow 2026, and will celebrate 100 years since the inaugural Games in 1930.
