A man has been seriously injured in a violent early morning assault on the northern Gold Coast.
Emergency crews were called to the 7/11 convenience store off Broadwater Avenue in Hope Island just before 2am on Monday following reports a man had been assaulted.
Upon arrival, they found a 55-year-old man with serious facial injuries.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
A 33-year-old NSW man was arrested at a nearby address a short time later.
He’s since been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to front Southport Magistrates Court today.
Police allege the fight was sparked over a missing Greyhound dog, which has since been located.
