The Gold Coast has once again cemented its spot as Australia’s number one summer holiday haven.

Fresh data has revealed the city continues to be a destination of choice for holidaymakers, with summer holiday bookings strong through the recent Christmas and New Years period.

According to Experience Gold Coast, New Years Eve bookings hit over 92 per cent occupancy, which is up from 88 per cent on the previous year.

While Christmas Day saw 77% occupancy across the city with an average of 73% across the week.

“We’re seeing some really strong occupancy over the summer period, it is always a great time of the year to come to the Gold Coast and we’re sure that’s going to continue well into 2026,” Experience Gold Coast’s Head of Visitor Economy and Corporate Relations Rachel Hancock said

“Our hotels, restaurants and experiences have all been super busy and that’s fantastic news for our visitor economy.”

Gold Coast theme parks are also breaking tourism records, with a record number of people passing through the gates of Movie World, SeaWorld, Dreamworld and White Water World.
