Queensland detectives will travel to NSW today to question a man after the body of his female carer was discovered at his home west of the Gold Coast.

Police made the grim find inside a property on Waterford-Tamborine Rd at Buccan in Logan around 3am on Monday while conducting a welfare check.

The woman, from Ashgrove, had been reported missing after she was last seen dropping a family member at a house party in The Gap in Brisbane’s west on Saturday.

Following investigations, officers launched a manhunt for the male resident of the home where her body was found with several injuries, sparking a dramatic police pursuit.

The 36-year-old man was eventually arrested at Kempsey on the NSW mid north coast about 3pm on Monday.

The man is expected to face court in NSW today and detectives from Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit will be travelling over the border to speak to the man in relation to the matter.

Police will await results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of the woman’s death.
