A search is underway for a firebug following a spate of blazes throughout Nerang overnight.
Firefighters were called to several bin and grass fires between 11.30pm and 1am.
The blazes erupted on Lavelle St and Pappas Way, with crews managing to douse the flames quickly.
Meantime, police are also investigating a suspicious car fire in the same suburb after a Mercedes c300 collided with a cement barrier in a carpark off Boulton Drive.
Police say the female driver fled the scene of the crash on Monday, with the vehicle later found engulfed in flames around 1.40am on Wednesday.
“Preliminary investigations indicate the Mercedes was deliberately lit,” Queensland Police said.
It’s not known if the blazes are linked.
Investigations are ongoing.
