Hinterland road blocked, manhunt underway after hit-and-run crash

A manhunt is underway for a group of people who fled the scene of an early morning crash in the Gold Coast hinterland.

A ute and Land Cruiser collided along Beaudesert Beenleigh Road at Wolffdene, just west of Ormeau, around 5.30am on Wednesday.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told Hot Tomato that following the crash, the occupants of the Land Cruiser piled into another car and took off.

An investigation is now underway to track down the driver and its occupants.

The driver of the ute has been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with minor injuries.

Beaudesert Beenleigh Road has been closed northbound with drivers being urged to avoid the area.
