A man has been arrested and charged after a police officer was allegedly mowed down by a car in Nerang.
The 38-year-old Constable was responding to reports several people were allegedly threatening another person with a weapon at a park on Lawrence Drive on Tuesday when the chaos unfolded.
“On police arrival, it is alleged the offenders left the scene in a white Hyundai I30 bearing false registration plates, striking one of the attending officers,” Queensland Police said.
Fortunately, the officer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A manhunt for those responsible has been underway since.
A 26-year-old Robina man has now been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and an evasion offence.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
