Miami unit block evacuated after late night kitchen fire

An entire unit building in Miami has had to be evacuated following a small late-night fire.

Emergency crews raced to a complex along the Gold Coast Highway around 11.15pm on Wednesday following reports of a blaze.

Upon arrival, they found a small fire had broken out in the kitchen of a third-floor apartment, filling the unit with smoke.

Firefighters managed to contain the flames to the kitchen and ventilated the unit.

Early investigations suggest a fridge may have been to blame.

Fortunately no one was injured and paramedics were cleared from the scene around 1am.
