An armed man has been shot and killed after driving into a secure perimeter at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-lago resort in Florida.

The man drove a vehicle through a gate at the property as another vehicle was leaving, before being confronted by Secret Service agents and a Deputy Sheriff.

Police say the man had a shotgun and a jerry can in his vehicle.

“He was ordered to drop those two pieces of equipment that he had with them. At which time he put down the gas can, raised the shotgun to a shooting position,” Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said.

The agents and deputy then fired their weapons, killing the man.

The man has been identified as 21-year-old Austin Tucker Martin.

He had been reported missing by his family several days ago.
