David Corenswet’s next role looks like it could have us reaching for the tissues
David Corenswet might currently be best known for flying around as Superman, but his next big role is taking him from the skies to the football field.
The first trailer for Mr. Irrelevant has dropped, and it looks like we could have a serious emotional rollercoaster on our hands.
Corenswet plays John Tuggle, the final player selected in the 1983 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.
Yep… the very last player picked.
That earned him the nickname “Mr. Irrelevant”, but Tuggle wasn’t about to let that label decide his future.
From last pick to NFL dream
Tuggle fought his way onto the Giants roster and played under legendary coach Bill Parcells, played by Michael Shannon.
But just as his NFL dream was taking off, everything changed.
Tuggle was diagnosed with cancer in 1984 and sadly died just two years later at just 25 years old.
So while the trailer gives us all the classic underdog sports movie moments, we already know this one is going to hit HARD.
And there’s even an Aussie connection, with the movie filmed in Victoria, including Melbourne and Geelong.
Mr. Irrelevant hits cinemas on December 25, 2026.
