James Van Der Beek, star of 1990s teen drama Dawson’s Creek, has died at the age of 48.
The American actor’s wife confirmed the sad news via Instagram this morning.
“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning,” the statement read.
“He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time.
“Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”
The father of six had been battling stage 3 colorectal cancer since August 2023.
Van Der Beek was best known for his breakout role as Dawson Leery in the 90s teen drama Dawson’s Creek, which concluded in 2003.
