Hilary Duff has opened up this week to share her truth on her growing family rift. The 38-year old pop singer has opened up about the topic of the feud between her parents Bob Duff and Susan Duff, and her oldest sibling Haylie Duff. Hilary Duff jumped on the On Purpose podcast with Jay Shetty on the 9th of March and discussed how she used to family problems to fuel some of her work.

“I think being very vulnerable and open about what it’s like to be in a family that your parents aren’t together and you don’t have relationships with both of your parents, […] It’s devastating. It doesn’t matter what age you are, you want your parents to feel like they care about you. And a big portion of my existence hasn’t felt like that. […] I don’t know if that’s the truth, but that’s how it feels. […] In my adulthood, I’ve come across more and more people that are having this experience, […] And as painful as it feels to share, when I decided to make this record, I could only talk about the things that I’ve gone through. There would be no purpose to make a record after 10 years than to face what it’s been like. So that’s my truth. And I really worked hard to lyrically make sure that I’m just speaking about my experience.”Hilary Duff on the On Purpose podcast

Duff went on to explain that she also isn’t currently on speaking turns with her sister Haylie. She goes on to share that she hopes that this situation is not one she hopes lasts.
