American late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will return to the airwaves after being yanked off-air over comments about the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kimmel was suspended indefinitely by ABC America after a monologue where he claimed MAGA “was desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”
His suspension caused uproar in the entertainment industry and sparked protests against ABC owner Disney.
But Donald claimed the move was “great news for America” and called for other late-night hosts to be fired.
However, the Walt Disney Company issued a statement confirming Kimmel would return to the airwaves, a week on from his suspension.
“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” the statement said.
“It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.
“We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
