Homegrown heart throb Jacob Elordi and Aussie sweetheart Rose Byrne lead the charge for Australia in this year’s Oscar nominations.

Byrne has been nominated for Best Actress for her performance in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, while Elordi has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Frankenstein.

It comes just weeks after Byrne picked up a Golden Globe for her role in the thriller film, while Elordi took home a Critics’ Choice Award for his performance in the Guillermo Del Toro flick.

“I’m deeply grateful and happy for this nomination and for the extraordinary recognition the film has received,” Byrne said in a statement.

“The traveling circus continues! I look forward to seeing everyone and celebrating together soon”.

Vampire horror thriller Sinners leads the charge with an all-time record 16 nominations, including best picture, best director and best actor for Michael B Jordan who plays two roles.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another follows closely behind with 13 nominations.
