The 98th Academy Award nominations have been revealed, and the big Hollywood headline is Sinners. The gothic vampire epic has made Oscar history by scoring 16 nominations, beating classics like Titanic and La La Land. It’s up for major prizes including Best Picture, Director and Screenplay.

Aussie Stars Shine

Australian actors are among this year’s Oscar nominees. Rose Byrne received a Best Actress nomination for her role in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, after her Golden Globe win. Meanwhile, Jacob Elordi scored a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Frankenstein.

Who Else Got Nods?

Other big films in the running include One Battle After Another with 13 nominations, plus Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme and Sentimental Value, which also earned multiple nods. Icons like Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, Jessie Buckley and Emma Stone feature across acting categories.

New Twists & Surprises

This year introduces a new Best Casting category at the Oscars, marking the first major change in years. There were also plenty of surprises and snubs, with some expected contenders missing out and international films earning strong recognition.
