A man has been charged after allegedly being found asleep inside a vehicle he’s accused of stealing on the northern Gold Coast.

The owner of the car happened to be travelling through Pimpama around 9am Tuesday when he spotted the vehicle, which had been stolen from Coomera last week.

The man notified police, who swarmed the area yesterday and found a 40-year-old Helensvale man asleep behind the wheel.

A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a quantity of dangerous drugs, drug utensils and tainted property.

The man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with one count of UUMV, two drug offences and one count receive tainted property.

He’s due to front Southport Court today.
