A man has suffered significant injuries after allegedly breaking-in to a home in Nerang.
The 44-year-old is accused of forcing his way into an Ealing Court property at around 4am Monday while armed with a baseball bat.
He allegedly assaulted a 55-year-old man known to him with the bat before a second occupant, a 59-year-old man, intervened.
The intruder was then set upon, suffering serious abdominal and facial injuries.
He was rushed to the Gold Coast University hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition.
The 55-year-old occupant sustained minor wrist and head injuries and was also taken to hospital.
A crime scene has been declared, with a police investigation underway.
