A Broadbeach man has finally come to the realisation he is $15 million richer after initially dismissing it as a scam.
The man held one of two division one winning tickets in Tuesday night’s $30 million Oz Lotto jackpot.
But when officials from The Lott tried to contact him on Tuesday night, he hung up.
They tried again on Wednesday morning but the man was still not convinced he had just become a multi-millionaire.
He eventually checked his ticket when it finally dawned on him he was a whole lot richer.
“This is the best news I’ve had in many a year,” he said.
“I’m a bit blown away.
“I was a bit sceptical when you first called, I wasn’t too convinced. But then I checked my ticket.
“I’ve been playing a long time, but never thought it would happen to me. I’m glad I persisted.”
The man said he needed some time for his win to sink in and to work out what he would do with his new fortune.
However, he said he would definitely do something to help his kids and grandkids.
The winning ticket was sold at Broadbeach Day Night Chemist.
Store owner Julia Clare said they were ecstatic
“Really happy to hear it is a local. It’s really amazing,” she said.
“On behalf of the entire team, we wish our newly made millionaire all the very best and thank you for supporting us.
