UPDATE @ 0830, Friday, October 24 | Police have now charged a man with murder following the stabbing death of a man in Coolangatta.
Police were called to Dutton St just after 1pm on Thursday, after tradies raised concerns about the behaviour of a man in his 20s.
The man fled the scene before Police later located the body of a 57-year-old man in a nearby unit.
Police tracked the man to an address in Upper Coomera, arresting the 27-year-old.
He has since been charged with one count of murder and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The man is due to front Southport Magistrates Court today.
Investigations are continuing with detectives urging anyone with information of relevant footage from the area to contact them.
EARLIER | A Coolangatta street has turned into a major crime scene this afternoon after a man was found dead, triggering a dramatic manhunt across the Gold Coast.
Around 1.05pm, concerned residents alerted police to the suspicious behaviour of a man in his 20s.
As a result, police attended an apartment complex on Dutton Street where they found a man with fatal stab wounds.
Another man in his 20s fled the scene but was tracked down in Upper Coomera around an hour later where he was taken into custody.
Two crime scenes have since been established in Coolangatta and Upper Coomera as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
Police believe the men were known to each other and have confirmed there is no ongoing danger to the public.
Authorities are calling for witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward as investigations continue.
