A Police officer has been ordered to front court on the Gold Coast over an alleged assault.

The 32-year-old male senior constable from the South Eastern Region has been charged with common assault, allegedly committed while on duty.

He will front Southport Magistrates Court on September 25.

He has also been stood down from the Queensland Police.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct,” QPS said in a statement.

“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.”
