A crime scene has been declared at a house in the Gold Coast hinterland following a suspicious fire early this morning.

The blaze erupted at the Clagiraba Road property in Clagiraba around 4.30am on Wednesday.

It took five fire crews more than two hours to extinguish the inferno, which completely gutted the property.

Police have confirmed the house was vacant at the time and it’s understood the property was actually on the market to sell.

Fire and police investigators will head to the scene today to try and piece together what sparked it.

Investigations are ongoing.
