Seven Gold Coast sporting clubs will share in more than $1.2 million in disaster relief funding in the latest round of grants delivered by the state and federal governments.
The Sport and Recreation Recovery Grants are to help clubs that suffered loss or damage in Tropical Cyclone Alfred last year.
Among the recipients, the Gold Coast Mountain Bike Club will receive $355,308 to assist with the repair and restoration of trails.
Mike Hatcher Junior Motorcycle Club will receive $292,340 to help with the remediation of their racetrack and repairs to other infrastructure.
Federal Minister for Emergency Management, Kristy McBain said this investment is about helping communities recover faster and ensuring sport remains accessible for families right across the region.
“Community sporting clubs are the heart of towns and suburbs right across South East Queensland, and we’re making sure they have the support they need to recover and thrive,” Minister McBain said.
“This funding is helping clubs get back on their feet faster, whether that’s repairing facilities, replacing equipment or creating safe, welcoming spaces for people to come together again after a disaster.
