Motorists travelling southbound on the M1  this morning are being warned to brace for lengthy delays following a truck fire.

The vehicle erupted into flames near the Smith Street Motorway exit (Exit 66) at Gaven around 6.30am on Tuesday.

Emergency services, including Queensland Fire crews, Paramedics and Police are on scene.

It’s not known at this stage whether the driver has been injured.

Queensland Traffic has warned motorists that “long delays are expected” with drivers urged to seek alternative routes if possible.

Traffic is currently at a standstill all the way back to Ormeau.
