GC BLACKOUT | Hundreds of homes still without power across Gold Coast

Hundreds of homes and businesses remain without power across the Gold Coast this morning.

The outage initially struck more than 2,500 properties across the city on Wednesday afternoon, with around 500 still in the dark now.

Southport appears to be the most impacted suburb, where 312 homes and businesses are offline.

Ashmore, Guanaba and Maudsland have also been affected.

It’s still not known exactly what sparked the outage, with Energex listing the issue as “under investigation”.

Crews are working to restore power as soon as possible.
