Up to 100 residents have been forced to evacuate from a Southport apartment building after an e-bike battery exploded.
Firefighters were called to the Allegra tower on Scarborough Street around 3.15am on Thursday following reports of a blaze on an 11th floor balcony.
Over a dozen firefighters worked to put out the flames, which was thankfully contained to the balcony.
All residents have since returned to their homes safely.
Authorities believe the fire was sparked by a charging lithium battery.
It’s prompted another warning from fire crews, who say lithium battery fires are becoming all too common.
“For the safety of the public, if you are charging lithium batteries there are some issues with them,” David Richards from the Queensland Fire Department told Nine.
“We would like them not to be inside residential complexes, please put them outside”.
