A huge relief for Magic Millions organisers, with this weekend’s Raceday given the greenlight to go ahead as planned at the Gold Coast Turf Club.

It comes after a number of senior jockeys gave the Bundall track their seal of approval after undergoing a test gallop on the repaired section of turf that was poisoned last week.

“Racing Queensland and the Gold Coast Turf Club advise that The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Raceday will be staged at Aquis Park on Saturday,” officials said in a statement.

“Jockeys have galloped on the course proper and deemed it safe to ride including the remediated area near the 500m mark”.

Queensland Racing Integrity Commission stewards also inspected the track and have approved the 10-race feature card proceeding at the Gold Coast Turf Club.

Queensland Jockeys’ Association General Manager Glen Prentice said the feedback from those who rode this morning was “overwhelmingly positive”.

“All six riders were unanimous in their view that the track rode well and will be safe for participants,” Mr Prentice said.

Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch told Hot Tomato it was a huge relief for everyone involved in the event.

“It’s going to be an awesome day,” he said.

“We’ve got Ronan Keating and Jimmy Barnes performing live, so we’ll have all of that excitement that the Magic Millions raceday on the Gold Coast normally brings”.

Doors to the Gold Coast Turf Club will open at 9am Saturday.
