A woman has been arrested following the shocking assault of a homeless man in Southport.
Police allege the 29-year-old Southport woman approached the 54-year-old man at the corner of Scarborough Street and Young Street at around 12.30am Wednesday, before repeatedly kicking and assaulting him.
She allegedly stole his bag and ran off, leaving him for dead.
The man suffered significant injuries and was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition, where he remains in an induced coma.
Police were able to quickly track the woman to High Street where she was arrested a short time later.
Charges are yet to be laid, with investigations continuing.
