Queensland Police have confirmed an arrest warrant has been issued for a man whose carer was found dead at a home in Logan.

The body of the 46-year-old was found on the back deck of a property on Waterford Tamborine Road at Buccan around 2.30am on Sunday.

Police made the grim discovery while conducting a welfare check on the woman, who was reported missing after she was last seen at The Gap around 7pm the night prior.

The 36-year-old male resident, who was known to the woman, was not at the property at the time, sparking a major manhunt.

Around 2pm on Sunday, NSW police arrested the man at Kempsey on unrelated traffic matters.

He fronted court in NSW yesterday where he was remanded in custody until 25 February for sentencing in relation to those traffic matters.

Police say that once the NSW court matters are finalised, Queensland Detectoves will seek his extradition back to Queensland.
