There’s been a lucky escape for a customer at the Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club after an SUV crashed into the outdoor dining area.

The man behind the wheel of the vehicle is believed to have suffered a medical episode, causing him to lose consciousness and plough straight into the front of the surf club around 10.30am.

One diner was seated just metres away from where the drama unfolded and miraculously managed to escape with only minor cuts to his legs.

The driver was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The Surf Club has since taken to social media to confirm they are still open, however dealing with a hefty clean up.

“We’re extremely grateful to report that no one was seriously injured,” the club said.

“One of our patrons, seated just metres away, was lucky to escape with only minor cuts to his legs.
