A man has been hit with a string of charges following a terrifying attempted carjacking outside a busy shopping centre on the northern Gold Coast.
The 20-year-old is accused of approaching a black MG ZS that was parked outside a business on Main Street at Westfield Coomera around 10pm on Saturday.
Police allege the man pulled a gun on the female driver before threatening her into handing over her keys.
The woman managed to make a run for it and flee for help, with police arresting the man at the scene.
The Coomera man has since been charged with multiple offences including one count each of robbery armed, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of weapons category D/H/R weapon and possess utensils or pipes.
He’s due to front Southport Magistrates Court today.
