A young man has died after being pulled from the surf at Burleigh Heads over the weekend.

Emergency crews rushed to the popular swimming spot around 4.30pm on Sunday after the man in his 20s was found unconscious in the water.

He was pulled from the ocean before being treated by paramedics, however, despite their desperate efforts, he could not be revived and died at the scene.

A Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed the death was being treated as non suspicious.

“A report will be prepared for the coroner,” the spokesperson said.

It’s the first death on our beaches this season.
