Health officials have issued an urgent measles alert after an infected person visited numerous sites across the Gold Coast.
An adult was diagnosed with measles after returning from Bali where it’s believed they contracted the infection.
The person wasn’t aware they were infectious when they visited a number of places across the city.
They include:
- Robina Hospital, Emergency Department on Thursday 18 September between 6:40am and 7:30am and between 5:30pm and 6:30pm
- Chempro, Palm Beach (Gold Coast Highway) on Tuesday 16 September
- Chempro, Palm Beach (19th Avenue) on Tuesday 16 September between 3:30pm and 5:30pm
- Zone Gym and Recovery, Burleigh Heads on Monday 15 September between 7:45am and 9:30am on Monday
- Burleigh Pavillion Kiosk on Monday 15 September between approximately 6:00am and 6:45am
- Event Cinemas, Robina on the afternoon of Sunday 14 September
- Coles, Palm Beach on the afternoon of Friday 12 September
- World Gym, Burleigh on Thursday 11 September from approximately 1:00pm to 3:30pm
Health officials are urging anyone who visited any of those places around the same time to monitor for symptoms, which include fever, cough, runny nose, sore eyes and a red spotty rash.
Doctors say it typically takes 10 days for symptoms to show following contact with the virus, but it can take as long as 18 days.
