A man has been charged with murder after another man was found with critical injuries inside a car at Southport.

Emergency crews were called to a home on Beale Street around 9.50pm on Saturday following reports a man was located unresponsive in a vehicle with head injuries.

The 44-year-old was treated at the scene before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he later died.

Officers were notified of the man’s death early Sunday morning and commenced an investigation, with a crime scene declared at the Beale Street property.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 28-year-old man a short time later and charged him with murder.

“Police will allege a 44-year-old Gold Coast man suffered injuries to his head after he was assaulted by a 28-year-old Stafford Heights man at a Beale Street property around 9:30pm last night,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

The man is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, June 30.
