A Gold Coast grandmother has had a weekend to remember after taking out Saturday’s Gold Lotto.
The Runaway Bay woman was one of eight Division One winners across the country, pocketing close to $800,000.
The woman was overcome with emotions when she discovered her early Christmas surprise while speaking to an official from The Lott.
“I can’t believe it!” she gasped. Thank you so much. This is really overwhelming!
“I’m in a bit of shock. I can’t wait to ring my husband and tell him!
“Just yesterday, while I was having a cuppa with my kids and grandkids, I joked, ‘If grandma ever scores big in the Lotto, she’ll take you all away on a holiday!’.
“I can’t believe this entire time that I had actually won! We have so many milestone events coming up next year too. This win has come at the most perfect time.”
Her winning marked 12-game entry was purchased at Golden News & Casket Kiosk at the Runaway Bay Shopping Village.
Owner Porsche Cheung said it’s an amazing feeling to have sold a major lottery entry to a local woman.
“Holy mackerel! We finally got one! The last one we sold was back in 2017. It’s such a great thing to happen, just in time for Christmas too,” he shared.
“Being on the Gold Coast, I think our city has one of the highest number of lottery winners throughout Australia, it makes us feel like we’re in the luckiest place on Earth!
“We’ll be bragging about it all week long! We’re looking forward to getting the banners up and sharing the exciting news with everyone.”
The winning numbers in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw were 22,10, 17, 5, 44, and 36, while the supplementary numbers were 3 and 11.
