Three people have been charged following a citizens’ arrest at a home on the northern Gold Coast.

The drama erupted when the trio turned up to a home in Alberton in a stolen car and were walking around the neighbourhood with torches.

Neighbours then confronted the group, including one with a chainsaw.

Acting Chief Superintendent Peter Miles has told the ABC the group tried to flee.

“They quickly got back into the vehicle to try and decamp but the vehicle got stuck,” Acting Chief  Superintendent Miles says.

“It’ll be alleged that one of the neighbours had a chainsaw… and those three were subject to a citizen’s arrest,

“We don’t spruik that you should be going out with the chainsaw, confronting people, but certainly it was effective in this occasion.”

The group has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, with investigations ongoing as to whether they were trying to break into homes.
