Police have confirmed a person has died while several others have been injured after a shocking run on Gold Coast roads during school pick-up.

Emergency services rushed to Somerset Drive in Mudgeeraba around 3pm on Wednesday after receiving reports a white Mitsubishi Lancer had lost control and rolled before smashing into a tree and then catching fire.

The male driver was declared deceased at the scene.

His passenger managed to escape with minor injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

“Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has relevant dashcam footage to contact police,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

The incident occurred just 40 minutes after a separate crash between two vehicle on the nearby Gold Coast Springbrook Road in Mudgeeraba, which also caused significant delays in the area.

Four people were taken to hospital in a stable condition as a result.

At 3.10pm, multiple services were also called to a three vehicle incident at the corner of High Street and Nind Street in Southport that left one vehicle on its side.

The southbound lanes of High Street and westbound land of Nind Street had to be closed off for some time while they worked to clear the scene.

Three stable patients have since been transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
