Officials have confirmed parts of Burleigh Heads National Park will remain closed off until further notice, following this week’s massive fire.
It was hoped the popular Oceanview Track would be able to open up this weekend. However, the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) confirmed on Friday afternoon that won’t be happening just yet.
“Rangers from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will be accompanied by geotechnical engineers on site Monday to survey and assess the damage and advise on any essential works to ensure visitor safety,” DETSI said in a statement.
“While the Oceanview track remains closed, the Rainforest circuit is open for visitors to enjoy.
“The public is reminded that drone use over the park is prohibited, as it may interfere with safety assessments and the ongoing investigation into the source of the fire.”
