Petrol prices across the Gold Coast have started to fall, with further relief to come when the cut to fuel excise flows through to the bowser.
The fuel excise has been halved from today for the next three months, saving motorists 26.3 cents a litre.
But motorists are being warned they won’t see the full savings at the service station straight away.
“The excise is applied at the wholesale level, so the fuel that the retailers will have in the ground will be the same fuel that they bought earlier on, and the excise on that fuel will still be at the full rate,” Dr Ian Jeffreys from RACQ said.
“We should see that (excise cut) flow through to the retail price within the first week.”
The lowest price for unleaded on the Gold Coast as of Wednesday morning was 226.5 cents per litre at Liberty in Helensvale North.
That’s down from Tuesday’s lowest price of 239.5 cents per litre.
Several Reddy Express service stations have unleaded for 229.9 cents a litre.
Liberty at Helensvale North also has the city’s cheapest diesel as of Wednesday morning at 296.5 cents a litre.
The lowest price for unleaded across the Gold Coast on Tuesday was 311.5 cents a litre.
