Two Police officers have allegedly been assaulted at a Gold Coast hotel in what senior Police have described as “feral” behaviour.

A group of people was holding an 18th birthday party in a room at the Crowne Plaza in Surfers Paradise on Saturday night when things started getting out of hand.

Hotel management and security went to the room and asked the group to keep the noise down, before an altercation broke out.

Police were then called, with several units attending before another scuffle broke out.

“It sounds like it was on for young and old. We had a Senior Sergeant bitten on the leg by a 44-year-old, and another officer was hit to the back of the head,” Acting Chief Superintendent Peter Miles told the ABC.

A 17-year-old boy, two 18-year-old males and the 44-year-old man were all arrested.

They’ve been hit with a range of charges, including public nuisance, serious assault, common assault, as well as drug offences.

One of the males will appear in court today.

“Nothing short of alleged feral behaviour. Obviously went a little bit too hard (and) couldn’t keep their hands to themselves or their teeth,” Acting Chief Supt Miles said.

“They haven’t had a great weekend after all, and either will our Polic,e who have, or one in particular, has to have a disease test to make sure that he hasn’t received any unwanted diseases.”
