Police have confirmed a video of a teenager holding a burning branch is not connected to this week’s devastating fire in Burleigh Heads National Park.
Investigations into Tuesday night’s suspicious blaze are continuing after around a hectare of bushland was burnt.
As part of the probe, officers reviewed footage that emerged on social media of a young male waving a branch that had been set alight.
However, Police have since determined that the video was not filmed on the night of the fire, nor was it filmed at Burleigh Heads.
A spokesperson says those involved in the video are cooperating with Police and have warned people against sharing the video further or commenting on it.
It comes as rangers prepare to make a call on whether the Oceanview Track can reopen.
Crews have been working to determine whether the blaze has caused rocks and boulders on the headland to become unstable.
It’s hoped the all clear could be given as early as today.
