Residents in parts of Springbrook are being told to prepare to leave their homes as a slow-moving bushfire moves towards properties.
The Queensland Fire Department has issued a ‘Prepare to Leave’ warning between Little Nerang Dam and Mount Nimmel Road.
“A slow-moving fire is burning near Mount Nimmel Road. It is travelling towards Mount Nimmel Road,” the warning states.
“Conditions could get worse quickly.
“Firefighters are working to contain the fire. You should not expect a firefighter at your door.”
The fire is believed to be around 500×300 metres in size and there are currently more than a dozen fire crews at the scene.
The department warned conditions could get worse quickly.
