The first of three brand new train stations for the Gold Coast is set to open next week.

Major construction of Pimpama station is now complete and will be ready to take passengers from next Monday, meaning commuters will no longer have to travel to Coomera or Ormeau to catch a train.

The new station includes 380 car parks, a pedestrian overpass with lifts on each platform, a 40-bicycle lock-up enclosure, lighting, and CCTV throughout.

The final touches will be added to the station this week, with fencing and landscaping work to be completed over the coming days.

It’s the first new station to open in southeast Queensland in almost a decade.

“For one of Australia’s fastest growing areas, opening Pimpama station will mean a quicker trip home,” Transport Minister Brent Mickelberg said.

“Locals will now be able to get a train much closer from home to the heart of the Brisbane CBD or the Gold Coast, and it will only cost them 50 cents.

Coomera MP Michael Crandon said the new station would be a game-changer for the local community.

“It means easier, faster access to public transport for families, students, and workers travelling between the coast and the city,” Mr Crandon said.

“We’ve been advocating for better infrastructure to keep up with our region’s rapid growth, and this is a major step forward in delivering the services our community deserves.”

To coincide with the station’s opening, bus routes on the northern Gold Coast are also being overhauled to provide better connections.

Among the changes, routes 721, 722, 724, 732, and 733 will now stop at Pimpama Station from next Monday.

Routes 722 and 724 will be adjusted through a section of Pimpama to provide a better service to Pimpama State Primary and State Secondary Colleges.

While route 720 will be extended to Ormeau Station to maintain connectivity to this station.
